Imran’s item number for ‘Delhi Belly’

Buzz has it that Aamir and Abhinay Deo, the director of the adult comedy flick have been at loggerheads since the flick’s inception. However, the duo sorted out their differences time and again. But the decision to have Kiran as the director of the item song has not been received well by Deo.

Aamir Khan’s ‘Delhi Belly’ starring Imran Khan will see Mamu’s Bhanja groove to a sizzling number. And Mrs Aamir Khan aka Kiran Rao shall direct the song.

The “perfectionist” Khan is known to intrude into the creative space of the directors of films produced under his banner. And as always, Aamir is making headlines for not giving his director the much needed liberty to treat his film the way he wants to.

However, Kiran Rao chose to speak the least when contacted by a tabloid and said, “When we heard the final song, we just loved the tune. It’s very catchy, so we decided to have some fun and shoot a promotional video.”

Dhobi Ghat` is Aamir`s home production and this time Aamir Khan`s wife Kiran Rao, who is making her directorial debut with `Dhobi Ghat`, says the film is about the city of Mumbai, its essence and people.

"What started five years ago as a vague idea is now a 100-minute reality and I am most excited and very nervous," Kiran said in a handwritten invitation for the unveiling of the film`s first look on November 17.

Taking a leaf out of her husband`s marketing strategies to promote movies, Kiran will personally write personal notes on post cards while sharing her experiences of Mumbai as well as shooting of the movie in the city every week.

The handwritten invitation was the first part of such an exercise.

"Dhobi Ghat is essentially about Mumbai, its essence and its people. A story about four characters in city of Mumbai," she said.

It stars Prateik Babbar and Aamir Khan and two new actors in the female leads - Kriti Malhotra and Monica Dogra.

The film will be releasing on January 21, 2011 after having won critical acclaim at Toronto and London International Film Festivals earlier this year.
