Sri Lankans are huge fans of Bollywood. Indian cinema has a large following in the country with Hindi films shown in theatres throughout the year. There is at least one shown on local television almost every day.

"We love Shah Rukh Khan, I have seen many of his films like `Kal Ho Naa Ho`... He is too good. I am even fond of Amitabh Bachchan," said a shopkeeper. Currently Shah Rukh`s "My Name Is Khan" is running in one theatre in the city.

A Srilankan student, said: "Bollywood is very famous here. Many Hindi films release here in theatres and we even get them on local cable TV with Singhalese sub-titles."

Posters of Bollywood actresses Madhuri and Aishwarya adorn many shops. As far as Sri Lankan`s favourite actors are concerned, locals swear by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.

The last Hindi film shot in the country was Ram Gopal Varma`s "Agyaat", which was filmed extensively in the Sigiriya Jungles of Sri Lanka in 2008. In 2004, Deepa Mehta came here to shoot her critically acclaimed "Water". She filmed the John Abraham-Lisa Ray- starrer just outside of Colombo.

Right now the Sri Lankan capital is gearing up to host the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) event June 3-5. In a country where there are fan clubs of Bollywood, the announcement of IIFA coming here has excited all.

"We need to develop greater association between Sri Lankan cinema and Indian cinema," IIFA brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan said here when the announcement was made at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel last week.

"We share a lot of things in common. We have a long history of togetherness and friendship, of sharing culture and beliefs, and I think that artistically, too, we need to bring this together so that together we can form an absolutely strong force, which represents this part of the world in the forum of world cinema," he added.

Sanjay Puran Mooves for Historical Films

The success of cross-border sports film `LAHORE`, debutant director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan is working on two magnum opus projects, including a sci-fi film.


"I am working on two projects now - a sci-fi and a historical. I`ll start with the sci-fi film by the end of the year and I am keeping all of it very confidential. I am not going to tell even my actors about it this time," Chauhan told reporters.

"Right now we are working on the story and once everything is finalised, we will zero in on the cast, etc," he added.

Chauhan`s "Lahore" has also been sought by US studio Hollywood Gang for a remake, making it the first Indian film to be remade there.

Gwyneth Paltrow fears by mental asylum

Hollywood hot actress Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed she fears she will end up in a 'mental asylum' unless she takes action to curb her obsessive behavior.

The Shakespeare in Love star admits she is a 'perfectionist' and she's scared her attention to detail will eventually lead to a meltdown, reports by hollywood team.

"Sometimes I think I'm going to have to check myself into a mental asylum, it gets so bad. It's my worst quality and I hate myself for it. It's like, what's wrong with you? Relax," she said.

"Sometimes I feel like the psycho in Sleeping With The Enemy. Remember that film, when she's got to line up all the apricot chutneys just so? I think I'm scared of something, like there's something I need to figure out."

Sonam fall in cowdung on the set of "I Hate Luv Stories"

Sonam Kapoor will never forgive Imran Khan for losing his hold and they fell in cowdung on the sets of ‘I Hate Luv Stories’!

Recently, while filming a romantic song in the scenic locales of New Zealand, Imran and Sonam were required to run towards each other and finally embrace. The heroine would then lean back in hero’s arms.

With a first few takes failing to satisfy director Punit Malhotra, Imran and Sonam were asked to add more intensity to the scene - something which exhausted Imran.

This time, when Sonam rushed into Imran’s arms and was just about to lean back, Imran lost his grip and both fell back. Yet, the lead pair of ‘I hate Luv Stories’ didn’t realise that they fell in cow dung.

Talking to a news daily, a close source said, “The worst part was that Sonam fell on some cow dung. When she got back on her feet, she felt some sticky substance clinging to her. And when she realised what it was, she rushed off to get a quick shower.”

Meanwhile, Imran confirmed the reports and said, “Sonam and I were supposed to do a ‘dip’, where she bends backwards and I support her. In one of the takes, we lost our balance and she fell backwards into a pile of cow dung. Luckily, it was the last shot we were planning to use that costume in.”

According to Milla Jovovich that child stars are "creepy" and is determined not to turn her two-year-old daughter into a celeb yet. "She`s not going to be a working child. For me it`s kind of creepy, the whole working kid kind of thing," said Jovovich.
