Review: ‘Hello Darling’

‘Hello Darling’ is marketed as a sex comedy, it offers nothing in either departments. The reason may be in the fact that the film is adapted by a Hollywood film called ‘Nine to Five’, which may well have been much funnier as per to the western taste, but here in for the average Bollywood junta, the film comes across as nothing but a dud.

Debutant director Manoj Tiwary made a good effort by portraying the evils of gender politics and sexual harassment at workplace, but in actuality, ‘Hello Darling’ hardly alludes to women power.

The story revolves around four people, a conniving personal assistant Candy (Celina Jaitly), the ideal exuberant corporate Mansi (Gul Panag), and newbie Satvati (Esha Koppikar) surrounded by their sexist, egotistical, liar, hypocritical bigot boss Hardik (Javed Jaffery).

The trio hatch a plan to bring Hardik down, seize control of the company and, well, teach a lesson to the male species. What follows is an expected chain of events that leads to the three women taking staggeringly stupid decision and dubious plotting disguised as a farce that frustratingly carries a socially relevant message for modern India.

There is plenty of skin show in ‘Hello Darling’ – check out the cleavage-flashing leading ladies, but for an exception of Eesha Koppikkar, who makes a commendable effort to get the Haryanvi lingo just right.

Gulpanag shairing great chemistry

Gul Panag will next be seen opposite Vinay Pathak in the movie ‘Straight – Pinu Patel Ki Tedhi Medhi Love Story’ also starring Siddharth Makkar. The film is about a guy who is confused about his sexuality and finds it difficult to make a choice between a guy and a girl.

Gul Panag is seen sharing great chemistry in the Tata Sky commercial with Aamir Khan. But she maintains that it is Shah Rukh Khan who is her favourite. "Shah Rukh has immense charisma. I don't know what he does or how he does. Though he is not a good looking guy, he just keeps getting hotter," says Gul.

she says that the idea of working with him scared her initially, but the actor put her at ease. "I was scared of hitting Aamir in the commercial, but he insisted I hit him hard," says the actress laughingly.

Gul Panag always goes in own way

"I have always done things my own way and it was irresistible when the magazine approached me to get down to my night suit. Did I feel awkward about doing so? Nope, not at all.

Gul Panag has gone chic and how! Though in real life she has been a bindaas woman all these years in spite of being a part of so-called serious films like Dhoop, Dor and Manorma- Six Feet Under, on print she has rarely gone the whole hog in projecting a sensual image.

I have never felt odd driving an Enfield or a F1 car for Renault or picking up the kind of projects I believe in. It was the same in case of this shoot as well.

I was promised a lot of fun and though some may be getting shocked with my dare-bare poses, my message to them is that 'Hey you there, I am like that only'", says Gul in a rapid tone while being mighty excited about the kind of response that her shoot is fetching for her.

She has done some critically acclaimed roles and still can carry off a "sexy" look with complete ease. In short, she's a real woman of substance and probably the best thing that could happen to a man! The shoot in itself was a lot of fun."
