The king of Bollywood is all set to receive yet another coveted distinction, an honorary doctorate in arts and culture from Britain’s University of Bedfordshire. He will receive this doctorate, his first ever, on July 10.

King Khan was nominated for the doctorate by an NGO called Routes to Roots which is a member of the World Association of Non-Governmental Organization. Tina Vachani, the co-founder of routes and routes said that Shah Rukh Khan was selected after careful observation despite being the crowned king of Bollywood. “The superstar has done immense work for the underprivileged and downtrodden and has always come forward for charities in case of natural disasters”, she identified.

Expressing his joy over the news, Shahrukh said that he is delighted that Routes to Roots nominated him for this doctorate and that he will accept it with pleasure.

A non-profit charitable organisation, routes to routes aims to bring people and cultures together across the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries. Among its patrons are actor Juhi Chawla and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt.
