Saif desperate After "Kurbaan"

News has it that post the Box Office fate of ‘Kurbaan,’ Saif is desperate to start ‘Agent Vinod’ – the only film in his kitty. With just one flop changing the Bollywood equations, Saif became complacent when his first home production ‘Love Aaj Kal’ turned a hit.

Talking to a news daily, a source said, “Saif went completely underground after ‘Love Aaj Kal’ and refused to sign any more films. He found the offers either mediocre or the roles not central to the plot. He was sure the right projects would come along, otherwise he was ready to wait it out for his next home production.”

Basking in the glory of his first home production, ‘Agent Vinod’ got delayed while Saif was still unperturbed. However, Saif was stunned with the BO failure of ‘Kurbaan’ as the source added, “Saif had no projects on hand. His favourite directors Siddharth Anand and Imtiaz Ali had moved on to Ranbir Kapoor. Saif’s home production ‘Agent Vinod’ showed no signs of taking off. So far he had been laidback about starting ‘Agent Vinod’, but after the failure of ‘Kurbaan,’ he hit the panic button.”

It seems Saif has shifted gears as things are really moving at a fast pace - director Sriram Raghavan is asked to get the script while Kareena is requested to keep her dates free.

Trade analyst Amod Mehra said: "It took 34 years for a film to reach Sholay's level. This film is set a new benchmark for the film industry. The film has grossed about Rs 240 crore in just 10 days of worldwide theatrical business and may touch the staggering Rs 300 crore figure by the time it finishes its run. The film, apart from breaking Indian domestic market records, in this time has also emerged as the highest Bollywood earner even in the overseas markets.

The producer lost his cool when he was asked whether 70 per cent of 3 Idiots, which has grossed over Rs.100 crore in the first four days, was taken from Chetan Bhagat's book Five Point Someone.

Earlier, Chopra got angry and demanded to know if the journalist had seen the movie and read the book. The scribe said he had seen 3 Idiots but had not read Five Point Someone. This further angered Chopra, who got up and started shouting: “Then you shut up. When you have not read the book, then how can you say that the movie is 70 per cent of the book?” Chopra's reaction evoked anger among the reporters with many demanding that the filmmaker apologise.
