The USD 200 million project, depicts the story of a fleet of ships forced to fight a battle with an armada of unknown creatures in order to discover and thwart their destructive goals.
Scheduled for release on 18 May, the sci-fi naval war film also stars Liam Neeson, Brooklyn Decker, Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgard.
The 23-year-old singer filmed in the waters off the coast of Hawaii, where sharks are regularly spotted, for the Peter Berg film, reported a website.
The `Umbrella` hit maker was surrounded by divers who were on standby with harpoons, during the shoot.
Berg, who has films like `Hancock`, `The Kingdom` and `The Rundown` to his credit, praised the singer saying, "She’s tough and urban."
