“Nakshatra” fails at the Box Office

NAKSHATRA movie is a waste of time according to BOS OFFICE record. The movie is drab and fails to interest viewers. Calling it a thriller would be highly overrated for this one is nothing but a sleeper. It seems that the director has not paid any attention to establish lead characters in the movie and connect them to each other.

Mohan Savalkar’s ‘Nakshatra’ lacks good script and this is just one of the major flaws of the movie. The story revolves around an aspiring script-writer Ajay (Shubh Mukherjee), who spends most of his time playing video games instead of writing scripts. His lady love Jiah (Sabina Sheema) tries to lure him away from the gaming console and gives him an ultimatum of two months to get serious in life.

Soon after, Ajay ends up writing a thriller story for a group of newcomers. He writes a story about a theft of an expensive diamond necklace from a museum. Ajay is all set to get engaged with Jiah soon after the script is complete.

However, things take an ugly turn at their engagement ceremony as police inspector Gupte (Milind Soman) lands there to arrest Ajay for the alleged theft of an expensive diamond necklace from a museum. Ajay is the prime suspect because museum’s CCTV cameras had captured Ajay spending a long time there everyday.

Ajay tries to explain to police that he frequently visited the museum to do his research work for his script. But like the director would have it, Gupte refuses to buy his explanation and puts him under arrest.

Nevertheless much later Ajay evokes Gupte to believe his story, who then tries to resolve the mystery and find out the real thief.

Overall, the screenplay is silly and written without proper consideration. The movie lacks the thrill to excite the viewers. Only Milind impresses as far as acting prowess goes. Sabina Sheema and debutant Shubh Mukherjee’s acting is highly disappointing.

Salman refuse to Promote GUZAARISH in Biss Boss

Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai saga might be passé but the two are still averse to facing each other. So Salman refuses to entertain Aishwarya’s ‘Guzaarish’ on ‘Bigg Boss’ Salman denied Ash starrer ‘Guzaarish’ any kind of publicity on his show ‘Bigg Boss’. Even though the actor is very fond of the film’s lead actor, Hrithik and director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, he declined to entertain the cast on ‘Bigg Boss’.

Buzz has it that when Salman was told that Bhansali’s film team will be coming on his show for promotion, the actor stated a firm ‘no’.

Confirming the news, a source said, “The marketing team of ‘Guzaarish’ and the channel were in talks and everything was finalized. Both the production house and the channel were keen that the ‘Guzaarish’ team appeared on the show. No one realised that it would actually be a very awkward situation for both Salman, the host of the show and Aishwarya Rai, the leading lady of the film, given their past. Obviously, when Salman learnt about it, he immediately refused to comply.”

And knowing Salman, the channel had no say in the matter after this. The marketing team was left with little options than to refuse the Guzaarish team.

“But to be fair, allowing the Guzaarish team in would have landed Sallu in a situation he never wanted to be in. It’s a thing of the past and both Ash and Sallu have consciously avoided meeting one another,” says the source.

Hot Mallika turned snake goddess

Mallika turned snake goddess is all set for naagin avatar this October. To promote her new film, Mallika has planned a truly unique approach. According to the latest reports, Mallika will organise special screening of ‘Hisss’ for snake charmers. The actress intends to invite saperas for she believes the film eventually is based on the belief, conventions and folklore of the same tribe.

Talking to a news daily, Mallika said, “Yes it`s true but it`s too early at the moment. We have just planned this thing. Yeh nagin ab dasane ke liye tayaar hai. And who better than the saperas to start with? The folk stories of naagins and saperas are age-old. And in front of a Naagin like me, none of these saperas have a chance. I am asking them to come with their beens. Let`s see who wins."

The actress plans to personally invite them for a special screening. The show is likely to be held at a Mumbai multiplex on October 8.

Further speaking to a news daily, she said, “I am a very bhandku type of naagin and my victims pray for mercy from me and that`s why I wanted the show to start with the saperas. There is a sapera community in India and the creative team is getting in touch with them. I will give all the details once that is finalised.”

Review of "ROBOT"

Rajinikanth latest film ‘Robot’ is a roller-costar ride, where you will see not one Rajni, but hundreds of them eating up helicopters, smashing cars, battering planet earth and creating havoc, like never before.

In the movie, Rajni plays Dr Vasi, who creates a robot who can not just serve tea and coffee but one who can be of great help for the welfare and goodwill of the nation.

However, trouble ensues when he adds an element of emotion and feelings to his creation. The result is that the robot falls in love with the professor's girlfriend, Sana (Aishwarya Rai).

Situations become uncontrollable for Rajni when his own creation becomes a formidable opponent and love rival, thanks to the red chip installed by Rajni’s nemesis Danny Dezongpa. Now, will Rajni be able to tame the rogue robot or will the world have to succumb to the vicious intentions is a million dollar question.

There are gravity defying stunts, shooting with a finger, running horizontally at high speed on the side of a train, flying cars and bikes, corny but hilarious dialogues -- e.g. after grabbing and pointing scores of guns at the police, he says 'Happy Diwali' before firing a salvo of bullets; or when the robot is asked his address and gives his IP address. It's not just god, the universe and its logic itself is recreated in the film.

Director Shankar who has a penchant for double image, multiple images and split images of his heroes returns this time with hundreds of images of Rajnikanth. The inspiration of Hollywood, most predominantly the "Matrix" trilogy (stunts choreographed by Yuen Woo-ping of "Matrix" fame), "The Mask", "I, Robot", and many Frankenstein movies are evident, but not overbearing.

Where Shankar scores is the ingenious conception of stunts. The allegedly 'poorer' cousin of Bollywood, the south Indian film industry, has been growing leaps and bounds in the special effects department. And with a little help from Hollywood, like in "Robot", it soars.
