Anushka is playing a typical North Indian girl who is required to look fuller, unlike the size zero girls in today’s films. In parts of the film, she will be dressed in Punjabi outfits like patiala salwars and short kurtis. When she wore the ethnic dresses, she was looking way too skinny. Punjabi girls are heavier on the lower body, especially the hips. Since Anushka nowhere resembled a Punjabi girl in that aspect, designer Jaimal Odedra decided to attach bum pads inside her salwars to make her derriere look heavier,” adds the source.
For the record, a bum bag is a small fabric pouch secured with a zipper and worn at the waist fastened with a strap around the hips.
However when quizzed about the bum bags, Jaimal denied suggesting them. “The film is about a Punjabi family based in London. Anushka plays a modern Punjabi girl. Anushka is well-toned and does not require them.”
